Studies and Sketches

Just two painting studies done in class, a mainly unfinished. Also a few sketches done in my sketchbook over the past few days.

My Eye

So, it's my eye. I updated the picture from the cell phone picture that I had originally posted. This one is a much better resolution.

The Jacket Page 1...Again.

So I had to redo the whole last page. My teacher liked the idea, but not the execution of everything. These are the final pencils before I go and finish out the lettering tomorrow and ink it. Great. I really wish I didn't have to redo it, but I actually like this one better. Also, this will be edited with a better scan tomorrow since I don't have an 11x17 scanner, but my school does.

The Jacket Page 1 Sketch

This is just a piece I am doing for my graphic novel class. It is a story my friend and I are doing, and I am not sure if this page is finished yet or not in the pencils stage, but it will be tomorrow for sure. This is an awesome experience, and hopefully this comic gets finished sooner rather than later. When the first issue is finished, I'll be sure to post where it can be picked up. Until then, enjoy!

Hannah Sketch

Just a really quick sketch of my girlfriend, Hannah. I completed this in (I think) under 10 minutes in my sketch book. I am trying to get a Figure and Anatomy assignment completed and the best way to do it is to sketch things out first. I have to next make a new drawing, and use only half. Half of the picture is her whole face and the other is a skull that I have to position correctly with the face. Maybe sounds more difficult than it will be...or maybe it will be really hard. We'll see.

Sketchy Portrait

This is a full portrait. Maybe you could call it and extended bust shot. This is a model at school and this picture took about and hour and a half to complete. This was me getting so frustrated with my picture that I just started to sketch. There wasn't much drawing here. This was completed I believe in compressed charcoal on charcoal paper that was about 24"x30". Larger than I was used to but it is one of my more favorite pieces. The picture below is a detail shot of the head. Not much detail to show, but enough that I thought it deserved a better shot. Click on them to enlarge them.
